Merrilat Roofing went above and beyond to replace my roof , for a fair price , in a reasonable time frame. I would consider myself a difficult customer. I question everything and trust no one. Despite my demands they hung in there and were responsive. They answered questions, returned calls, and even came back to make sure I was comfortable with the finished job. The roof looks good. Two separate wind mitigation companies gave positive feedback on the quality of the roof replacement. Great outcome. The "go to" people are either John , the owner, or Brian, the Managing Partner. They both went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. A roof is a HUGE investment ( unless you are some scammer making your insurance pay for "storm damage") so pick someone who knows what what they are doing and operates with integrity. I would recommend Merillat Roofing.

After reviewing several companies, we hired Merillat to install our metal roof. Brian, the owner, is responsive and eager to please. There were a few snags/ delays along the way but we could not be more pleased with the final result. We have a beautiful and lasting roof.

Merillat replaced our roof back in 2017, the process went smoothly, and communication was adequate. The work was done quickly, finished in one day (including replacing 8 sheets of plywood that were damaged from solar pool heater leaks), while similar homes in our neighborhood done by other companies took several days. They did a pretty good job cleaning up, a few nails missed in the yard, but that seems pretty normal. 4 years later and we have not had any issues with the roof. Would recommend.

They did an awesome job! I needed a portion of my roof replaced after a leak and they explained in detail and showed me where and why I was having issues. As a General Contractor I have used Merillat Roofing on my projects and have been very happy with the high quality of workmanship and finished product they deliver. Brian and his team are always punctual and quick to respond to any concerns. They are true professionals that provide excellent value for your hard earned money.
When it came time to replace the roof on my home, of course, Merillat was the one to get it done. They installed architectural shingles on the slopes areas and a sloped foam board and TPO system on the flat areas. As usual it is a Top Notch product. As I am now a Building Inspector, I would know. They were on time, on schedule, and on budget with no sudden billing surprises. Brian's crew was polite and courteous, and did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves. I had gathered quotes from 8 different roofers for an entire roof replacement of my low slope & flat roof home. The quotes were all close to each other, but the scope of work proposed and materials offered differed. Merillat's estimate was very comprehensive as to what was included and what would cost extra. We knew there was some damage and rotten wood that would need to be replaced. Merillat Roofing sent photos of the progress and kept me informed every step of the way. They completed the roof in one day and took care of 100% of the issues without nickle and diming me for every little thing. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Tampa bay area needing a re-roof or a repair.

I had the best experience with Merillat Roofing. I had a major problem with my flat roof and I was given Merillat's number, by a trim and framing contractor. I called Merillat early in the afternoon, and Brian Cook came out in 40 minutes, gave me an estimate and sent me the paperwork in the next morning. I accepted it and the roofing crew was out the following morning. In less than two days I had my roof repaired and the crew really did a superb job. They explained what they were going to do, very professional about their work, and most courteous. They protected my pool and deck area and cleaned the entire roof and gutters of leaves and other debris. It was truly a pleasure to work with Merillat, an honest and courteous company, and I will definitely recommend them to others.

We were referred to Merillat when our originally selected roofer could not accept the project for insurance reasons. We were apprehensive, but upon meeting with Brian, we decided to go ahead with his company. He patiently answered questions, promptly provided all requested insurance/license documentation, and was in constant communication to make sure we had peace of mind. He did not push us for any decision. This was a two-story residential roof going from cement tile to shingles, of a little more than 85 roofing squares. Brian specified everything in his contract, put us on his schedule very quickly, and checked as the job progressed. His foreman, Randy, was here and very informative and attentive to the quality of the work. All of the crew were neat and professional. They addressed a couple of minor issues that arose as work progressed very quickly, and always took time to answer my questions. (Of which there were many.) They came back even after payment to address a few minor things, and have called to make sure everything is to our satisfaction. We are very satisfied with the quality of the job they performed and at a fair cost.

Merillat removed and replaced two roofs for us recently. Both roofs completed as scheduled and performed by a professional crew. Excellent work. Building department and insurance wind mitigation inspections completed easily with documentation. Didn't expect replacing two roofs would be that easy

Did our roof in less than a day, sent picture and video updates as the work was going on, did a great job and left my property spotless. They were recommended to me from a trusted friend and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great roofing company.

They provided prompt response to my request for quote, and believe me I never thought that would have be a concern but it was a problem with other contractors. The quote they provided was the most detailed of those received. They began and finished work on time and they did good job. I will seek them in the future for other roofing requirements.

Called quite a few companies for some work that needed to be done on our home in short order. I wasn't looking for miracles as I know how busy it can get for roofers in the stormy season. Merillat sent someone out the same day as my call, and not only did he check out our issue but also completed the work on the spot. It is my pleasure to highly recommend Merillat Roofing. This is the second home of mine that Merillat has re-roofed this year (2019). I cannot say enough positive things about the company and employees. Everyone on the crews are polite, helpful and happy to address any questions. The quality of their work is unrivaled. The end product is excellent.
Two employees that deserve individual mention are Rob who is the company representative regarding the contract development and the overseer of the project and Duane the foreman of the work crews. Both have been the ultimate professionals and receptive to any issues that arose during the projects and resolved everything to my satisfaction.

My experience with Merillat Roofing is a testament on why to use a reputable company and not base the decision only on price. This is the second roof I have needed to have done to my home in the 10 years I have owned it. The first roof was done by a fly by night company that was done as a condition to my buying the home. So of course they looked for the absolute cheapest price possible. Well after several leaks, damaged drywall and other issues I decided I had enough. I contacted a few companies to come out to give me some estimates.

Fast forward to now:

I contacted Tina at Merillat and she arranged for Brian her foreman to come inspect my roof. Brian informed me of the terrible condition and pointed out some issues I was already aware of, but this established he was being honest and also knew what he was talking about. The end result was I needed to pull the first and second roof off, do underlying repairs and put on the new roof.

Again, nothing surprising here other than the fact Brian made me feel very confident in the way he addressed questions and his demeanor was refreshing compared to the few other companies I had contacted previously. I got the feeling that although he was working and this was a business, he genuinely wanted to help.

I made the decision to have Merillat install the new roof and we scheduled it to begin a few days later. The common estimate with all the companies I spoke with would be a 3-4 day job, understandable.

So they began work on a Tuesday morning, arriving 15min early (also a welcome surprise) and the crew began to start removing the old roof.

Later that day, I learned that there was a large storm headed our way and was an unexpected occurrence as the weather reports earlier gave us a good 5 day window to have the roof work completed. I called Tina to voice my concern and she informed me that they had also heard the same information. She said since they had already had a good portion of my roof removed they decided to bring in a second crew to accelerate the work on my house to avoid the imminent storm. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, you know that this was the beginning of our crazy rain, rain and rain some more 3 week barrage of rain.

Not only did they finish in unheard of 2 days, but it looks fantastic and not one leak! Just in the knick of time.

I wish I could give multiple reviews because they deserve more than and A rating.. For my family and myself, its a AAAA+++ many thanks!!

Merillat Roofing just completed a new roof on my home and I could not be more pleased with, not only, the end result but also the experience of working with Merillat! From beginning to end they have worked WITH ME not just for me as a roofing contractor. From the owners, to the office staff, to the crew everyone was professional, friendly, helpful and conscientious. As the day approached for the job to begin, we faced the impending arrival of the hurricane. Brian reached out to reassure me and advised that it would be best to secure the roof and not attempt to start the job on the chance that the weather could stop them before they finished. On their own time and expense, a crew came out with materials and took the time to secure the roof with tarps and plywood in hopes of weathering the storm and it did! After the storm, with new jobs, repairs and damage to handle, they kept their commitment and, within two days were on the job replacing the roof and doing repairs which were found once the roof was torn off. Before doing any additional, unexpected work, I was informed and shown what they found and given options for how best to handle the needed repairs. I appreciated being part of the process and am pleased with the results. With young children in the house, they were conscientious about safety and worked hard to keep materials from being left in the grass where they could be stepped on. While access was limited due to the nature of the repairs that were needed, they were kind and helpful when materials and equipment had to be moved to allow the family to come and go. When a neighbor had some minor damage from the storm, I recommended they call Brian. He came out right away after the storm, gave an estimate and was able to complete the job quickly for them. Merillat was on time, proactive, professional and courteous. They were great in helping me select the products and materials and gave me options to choose from that ended in a beautiful new roof that has already gained compliments from neighbors for it's look and finishing touches. Having a new roof done is an investment, Brian and his staff and crew went out of their way to be helpful and make having a new roof replaced a positive experience and went above and beyond to accommodate and work with me from beginning to end. They honored their estimate and provided a detailed summary of the work and materials used. I am pleased with the quality of the materials and the workmanship provided. The extensive damage from the tree was repaired to original condition. We couldn't be happier with the results and the crew as they were very nice and courteous. Called many roofing companies for estimates and Merillat was super fast in setting up the preliminary visit and getting me a quote which was very reasonable. Rob was very easy to deal with and very informative. Once we decided to go with Merillat they began work within a week and pretty much finished in one day with a pleasant and hard working large crew. My neighbors were impressed with how fast they completed the job and we were very happy with the quick completion.

Very Happy Customer! I bought an American 4 square- 2 story Craftsman bungalow house with three buildings on the property. The roofs on all three buildings were 70 years old! There was a lot of damage underneath the shingles to the wood planks below. Steve, who was my contact & contractor, did a fantastic job. The pricing for the work was extremely reasonable, he and his crew were on site for about a week working on all three structures. They did a beautiful job repairing the wood underneath with plank board just like the original structure had to maintain the historic nature of the house (and in case I ever wanted to vault the ceiling it would still look uniform from underneath)
Lastly, after a few weeks past the completion of work, low and behold, it rained! Steve was quick to stop by during the storm and check that all was well! He wanted to make sure that I was happy with the results. I felt that the level of detail to my project was spot on, he and his team cared about my house and making sure it was water tight and sealed with care. I would happily hire him again for any future roofing needs.

We noticed our launi roof started leaking, called multiple companies and chose Merillat. They came out and gave us a fair price. They didn't try to up-sell products and just felt they were honest people.

The crew came out a couple of days later and worked all day to get the work done. They were polite, professional, and would answer any questions we had.

When they left I climbed on a ladder and took a look at their work, needless to say I was impressed.

If you are looking to get your roof repaired or replaced make sure you give Merillat a chance to come out to will be happy you did.

John Merillat is honest and professional - one of the few contractors I've been fortunate to cross paths with who did exactly what he said he was going to, when he said he was going to do it. He really stands behind his company's reputation and ensuring the quality of the work. I have a 1920's bungalow that needed a lot of roof deck and wood repairs. The work was extensive and intricate. They didn't cut any corners - they used tongue and groove boards to match the original wood and replicated replacement rafters and rafter-tails to match the originals. The job foreman Ronnie and all of the team members were incredibly polite and thoughtful. They were a pleasure to have working at my home. I would recommend Merillat for both their quality of work and quality of character any day!

Sooooo ya buy a house and think it's gonna be okay since the inspection didn't reveal any bombs, but six days in the roof leaks like a sieve. Sigh. Merrilat came, fixed it and we waited for the next storm. Well shoot. It still leaked. One phone call and they were here immediately digging deeper to find the real issue and they fixed it with a smile, no questions asked! It was a stubborn one this roof, but these guys tamed it and helped my "new" old house stress level tremendously. Definitely recommend them if you care about how someone treats you when your head might spin around with despair. Can't recommend enough!

My wife and I decided to put a metal roof on our nearly 100-year-old two-story Victorian bungalow. After interviewing nearly a dozen roofers, we finally settled on Merillat Roofing. It was clear during the interview process that Merillat was attuned to the difficulties of working on such an old house and was committed to making sure that we had the best roofing experience. Additionally, the price quoted, while not the lowest, was extremely competitive and one that we felt more than fair given the scope of the job.
The short answer is that Merillat Roofing exceeded all of our expectations. However, that single sentence cannot fully express the satisfaction of the working relationship that we had with this company. It was clear to us that everyone from Rob, our salesman and contact, to Brian the foreman, to Steve and Shea the metal artists (for lack of a better term), and the rest of the team were fully committed to ensuring that we had the best metal roof possible. In this cynical age where the expectation is that a contractor only cares about the bottom line and not the quality of service, it was refreshing to see a crew that took such pride in their work.
I can also say that this was not easy job. As can be expected with such an old house, there was damage to the underlying structure of the roof and many areas where the eaves sagged. Additionally, given a two-story Victorian bungalow with many different angles and roof pitches, the installation of a standing seam metal roof with 12" panels was a tedious and meticulous process. Throughout the entire process Merillat worked with us, without pressure, to make sure that all the challenges were met and that we had both a structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing roof. My wife and I cannot recommend them highly enough. While all jobs are different, we can definitely say that we could not have been more satisfied with the job that Merillat did and could not be more proud of our roof.

We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Merillat Roofing. We chose Merillat to put a new roof on the Dunedin home we purchased in Jan 2020. We selected them because they offered a competitive price and it was one of those things where we just felt like they cared about their work and we felt they were being straight shooters. This was of concern as the home was built in 1944 and from the inspection we had every reason to believe that we were going to need to spend some money on the structure underneath as well as the shingles. We were very pleased with the work, its appearance and timeliness and clean-up and would recommend Merillat based on that alone.
Fast forward to Nov 2022, we arrive at the home after spending the summer at our primary residence in Maryland. Shortly after, a driving rainstorm caused a leak into the house. Initially perplexed by the problem we called Merillat and they had someone come out. I then thought I had found the source of the leak with a shingle that didn't appear to sit right. They immediately left to get materials and had it fixed within in hour. About 2 months later, another driving rainstorm caused the problem to recur. We again called Merillat and this time, the owner, Brian came out personally. He got on the roof for an up close inspection and made the determination that the original problem that I identified was not the true cause. Once identified, he again came back personally the next day to repair the problem. Not only that, but the water had done some damage to the drywall inside the house. Brian insisted on sending in a drywall contractor to repair the damage at his expense. That contractor was also excellent to work with and did a great job.
All in all, while you never want to have a problem, sometimes they do occur. The best thing one can hope for in that situation is to be working with someone that has the customer concern and integrity to make it right. We could not be more pleased with the way Brian handled the situation and continue to recommend Merillat Roofing to our friends.
